Writing the context of Indonesia

Indonesia is a large and populated country. It is one of developing countries in South East Asia that facing many problems almost in every sectors including in education. Indonesia has not seemed yet the education as a priority to develop a better nations. This can be easily justified by the lack of funding and commitment of Indonesian Government to the education. The law was recently established to allocate 20% of APBN for education, not including the salary of about .... teachers in Indonesia which is much higher than in the previous practices (about ....% in ....), but the fact, that until now, no more than 11%??? of the APBN allocated for the education. Sadly, because to the available money, many people have claimed that some of the money were spent ineffectively or without clear long term goals.

In the last two years, many discussion was happened about teachers in Indonesia. The new Law about teachers and lectures (UU No,.....?) which regulate about the requirements, that teachers must meet to be account as professional, generate many debatable issues. On the one hand, this law is promising in terms of increasing the salary of teachers that was almost the lowest in South Asia region. On the other hand, this has also generate many unexpected problems for Indonesian education. The strong reactions from the society to the tough requirement to be account as professional (......), took the policy maker to decide a new unexpected policy, that teachers must shown their professional level through a portfolio (i.e........)

Education government decision to assign 200,000 among ...... teachers to attend this program has created many other problems such as below.

1. social problems (jealousy, feeling not fair in selecting teachers),
2. short period of the socialisation about portfolio and un-well prepared has resulted lack of understanding about the portfolio,
3. the questionable assessment process. The assessor from the university joined the short period of training and they must complete their assessment task to hundreds portfolio in less that one week.
4. Teacher who were failed in the assessment must attend the certification program which was not clear what the programs look like.

Eventually, the detrimental problems as a result of this new policy has been more dominant than the benefits reflected by the initial intention of the government to improve the quality of teachers as well as to increase their welfare in Indonesia.

1. Tentang masalah pendidikan di Indonesia secara umum, yaitu kurangnya dukungan dana dan komitmen pada pemerintah dalam mengembangkan pendidikan di Indonesia
2. Tentang a new policy yang sebenarnya tujuan awal untuk memperbaiki kualitas guru tetapi pada perjalanannya, justru memunculkan banyak sekali masalah yang tidak kita harapkan
